‘Semester in the City’ Commemorates 50th Anniversary of English Avenue Bombing

The “Semester in the City” class helps students understand the experiences of residents in the Westside Atlanta communities that border campus. It also teaches students how to prioritize the needs, interests, and most of all, the input of Westside residents first when considering technology or policy solutions intended to improve their lives, said Assistant Professor Todd Michney, who teaches the class.

Jay Telotte, professor in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication, retired in December after 41 years at Georgia Tech. Patrick McCarthy, professor in the School of Economics, retired after nearly 20 years at Georgia Tech.

Winnefeld Writes Fictional Story on U.S. Navy Lieutenant

Adm. Sandy Winnefeld, USN (ret.), distinguished professor of the practice in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, has written “Reunion,” a blog for the U.S. Naval Institute. The fictitious story is centered around Joseph Hendricks, a lieutenant in the United States Navy, who was on board the USS Ranger.

Former Modern Languages’ Student, Joseph Huntemann, Highlights the Importance of Foreign Language and Cross-Cultural Communication

International Affairs alumnus and former Modern Languages student, Joseph Huntemann, serves as senior project manager for the Aerospace, Defense, and Advance Manufacturing (ADAM) team at the Georgia Department of Economic Development. Initially recruited to start on international and investment projects, Joseph was brought in as a Japan specialist, following his previous role working at the Japanese Consulate of Atlanta. After holding his senior project manager position for eight years, Huntemann has been promoted to managing director of the Tokyo office of the Georgia Department of Economic Development starting in January 2021.
