LCC Grad Students Win Grants
Paul Amsbary demostrating SliversTwo separate teams of graduate students have received $25,000 in grants from mtvU and Cisco Systems respectively to develop their ideas for the next generation of broadband content. The grants are the result of mtvU's national "Digital Incubators" contest to encourage college students to create new mash ups for digital content. Slivers, developed by Sergio Goldenberg, Annie Lausier, and Paul Amsbary, Masters students, Interactive Design Technology (IDT), LCC, is an online video game that challenges users to match artists and music video "slivers" (silent clips less than 3 seconds in length). The game is scheduled to launch in September. H!T or SH!T, developed by David Jimison, Ph.D. student in Digitial Media and Jeffrey Crouse, Masters student in IDT, is a social networking media player designed to build affinity groups around similar tastes in content.
IDT Spring Demo Day Best Ever
IDT Spring Demo Day at LCCThe annual Spring Demo Day of School of Literature, Communication, and Culture's (LCC) Digital Media/Information Design and Technology Graduate Program, May 3, included extraordinary Masters Projects, student and faculty projects in Experimental Media, Experimental Games, Experimental TV, Machinima, Interactive Design, Mobile Technologies, Digital Art, and Interactive Narrative. Projects this year included tangible computing projects directed by Ali Mazalek, Assistant Professor, LCC, and collaborations with Turner Broadcasting, mtvU, and nurun | ant farm.
Endicott Receives General Ray G. Davis Award
John EndicottProfessor John E. Endicott, Sam Nunn School of International Affairs and Director of the Center for International Strategy, Technology, and Policy was awarded the General Raymond G. Davis Award by the Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Greater Atlanta and the Marine Corps Association of Georgia Lawyers, April 20.

Class of 1934 Distinguished Professor Award for 2006
Norton received Georgia Tech's Distinguished Professor award for his achievements in the classroom and as a researcher. The award, which includes the honor of delivering the summer commencement address, is the most prestigious award bestowed upon Tech faculty members. Selected by the Faculty Honors Committee the recipient is chosen for his or her outstanding commitment to teaching, research, and service.
