Professor Ian Bogost (School of Literature, Communication, and Culture) Spoke to The Chronicle of Higher Education about “Video Games With a Political Message”

In his interview with Andrea L. Foster of The Chronicle of Higher Education (October 29, 2004 issue), Professor Ian Bogost (School of Literature, Communication, and Culture) said that video games will have a big impact on election outcomes in future because games will influence voters more than TV advertisements or political debates. Interactive games will be used increasingly by candidates to send out their messages more effectively.

In his State of the Institute address, President Wayne Clough stressed the importance of “Innovation in a Changing World,” adding that Georgia Tech is “uniquely positioned to shape the future through the outcomes of our research. . . . But we will reach our true potential if we anticipate the issues that lie ahead and guide out efforts accordingly.” He went on to highlight several national trends that will influence the direction of research and innovation in the 21st century—many of which are of strategic importance to Ivan Allen College and its research and teaching agendas.
