Jeremy Farris, student in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, has been named Rhodes Scholar for 2005.

At first glance, he is a typical Georgia Tech student: focused, hard working, goal-oriented, and able to maintain a very high GPA. The third student at Georgia Tech to receive the Rhodes scholarship, Jeremy Farris also has more than a little of what it takes to compete internationally with the brightest and most innovative minds in his age group to be one of 32 recipients of the Rhodes Scholarship for 2005.

Mr. Inman Allen, son of the late Ivan Allen Jr., has made a generous gift to the college which bears his father’s name.

Shortly before his death, Ivan Allen Jr. directed the Robert C. Woodruff Foundation to commit the major gift it traditionally makes in honor of the retirement of one of its trustees to the unrestricted fund of Ivan Allen College, which it did in 2002 with a grant of $1.25 million. In October, 2004, following the death of Mayor Allen, the Allen family sought to match in part the largess of the Woodruff gift with its own commitment of $500,000.
